Supply of IT to Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College
Rotary always grants basic education and literacy a big importance, and has adopted it as one of its seven areas of focus.
After the Beirut explosion on 4 August 2020; most of the schools situated in the capital underwent diverse levels of destruction.
Rotary Club Beirut Cedars decided to help a number of schools and asked for International club’s support.
Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College established in 1953 underwent severe destruction, 90% of the brick walls, offices and classrooms separations have fallen or under risk of falling.
The rebuilding process was launched as soon as possible, to be able to have the school ready to welcome its students for the scholar year 2021-2022, the school also believes in the importance of technology usage to implement its school curriculum, so it was urgently in need of IT equipment to establish the needed infrastructure.
Rotary Club Beirut Cedars decided to support the project of IT project presented by its member Marwan Ghantous, in collaboration with Rotary Clubs Ensishem- France D-1618 and Neuburg/Donau-Germany D-1841 and their donation of 12.500 euros; we were able to supply the school with 38 laptops and desktops on 16 September 2021 to support the school in its mission of educating the future generations of Lebanon.
During the delivery of the equipment was present to represent Rotary, RC Beirut Cedars president Ronald Farra, Treasurer Ramzi Abou Samah, Rotarian Marwan Ghantous, past president Rodolphe Melki, and incoming president Mike Haroun.
Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College principal Mrs. Ghia Suifan thanked Rotary for this much needed donation.
