Rotary Club of Beirut Cedars has the pleasure to announce its President-Elect for the RY 2022-2023, Mr. Mike Haroun.
Mike is the owner and managing director of Haroun Studios, a family-owned media company that spans three generations, since its start in 1945.
Mike has been active in community work since his childhood years. At school at College Mont La Salle, at the age of 16, he was part of a group called JDA that did community work helping and educating refugees as well as taking care of the elderly and handicapped people. During the civil war, he served as a volunteer in the Red Cross for 3 years before leaving for the US. In college in the US, he was elected president of the Lebanese Student Association where he did a lot of community work and was able to secure several scholarships and assistantships to fellow students. Since his return to Lebanon, he has been actively documenting, scanning, and restoring old movies with the purpose of preserving Lebanon’s Film Heritage.
In October 2019, with the start of the revolution, he joined the Rotary family where he became very involved in supporting the local community which was suffering from the economic collapse, the devaluation of the currency, the Covid Pandemic, and finally the Beirut port explosion. He is currently the Projects chair at Rotary Club Beirut Cedars, will serve as secretary for the incoming Rotarian year, and will assume his position as club president for the year 2022-2023.
Mike and his wife Nadine, who is the current AUB museum director, have three daughters and are very active in community work and cultural/sustainable development projects.
