Our second quarter is over, and we embrace now the third. Wishing all our friends and families a very Happy New Year, we will strive to assure a better way of life to the Lebanese population whose troubles are not of the least in this winter of 2021.
Our fight against hunger is not slowing down, for the need is now more than ever. We have coupled to it fuel distribution to the underprivileged areas helping fight the cold winter.
At the same time, we have accelerated the help we can give to hospitals. We currently are supporting the Hôpital Libanais Geitaoui, the Saint George Hospital University Medical Center, and The Rosary Sisters Hospital with grants to supply equipment that was damaged by the Beirut Harbour blast of August.
In the meantime, donations coming to support the remaining hospitals in Lebanon are continuously arriving from Europe and the Americas. This very much needed help in consumables and paramedical items is being distributed all around the country with the involvement of all the Rotary Clubs in Lebanon and various NGOs.
Simultaneously, and in order to fight the COVID-19, our club is actively participating in the supply of Oxygen generators to help the medical field of the country and be of relief to those who cannot afford but need such equipment for a determined period of time.
As we strongly believe in helping the educational system in Lebanon, we also have ongoing Global Grants to secure funds to help the youth remain connected with their teachers, and get access to the high level of education they all deserve.
None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the support of all the members of our club, who always are answering calls for action. The most gratifying moments are always found in friendship. Ou fellowship is strengthened everyday between Rotarians who are volunteering hand in hand to serve above self!
Onwards we go, and Upwards it will be!
