The Beirut Governmental Hospital – Quarantina created a new project: the first  pediatric service in Lebanon consisting of 50 Beds.

The hospital is considered relatively small in size for a city like Beirut. However, since its establishment, this medical Center has become a reference for patients especially those in need for all medical related matters. It has been relying on generous benefactors to be able to serve the Lebanese population and be in the forefront during periods of crisis.

Following the 4th of August explosion, the Quarantina hospital has endured severe physical damages and losses in its medical staff. It was rendered non-operational and the incapable of assisting in-patients who had to be evacuated to other hospitals.

The hospital which has always been providing high quality care, was suddenly transformed into a field hospital due to the devastating losses that hit the heart of this institution. In order to resume its mission of providing excellent healthcare services, a lot of work was needed on different levels of the hospital.

After a rigorous needs assessment and field visits, the members of the Rotary Club of Beirut Cedars decided to support the hospital by funding an autoclave machine together with the Rotary clubs of Schenefeld, Beirut-Cedars, Hamburg-Blankenese, District 1890 and the Rotary Foundation. The project will be implemented in August 2022 in collaboration with the “Association d’aide à la mère et l’enfant à l’hôpital”. ASSAMEH  is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 by Pr. Robert Sacy along with a devoted team of volunteers with the aim to support Government Hospitals in providing first class specialized medical care to families who cannot afford it, at the fraction of the cost incurred in private hospitals.
